EVENT

Spanish Throwdown is a functional fitness competition based on tradition and community spirit, aspiring to be a memorable event in Southern Europe for everyone, providing a unique experience with hard training. Spanish Throwdown will take place in an athletics stadium of Madrid and surrounding areas. (SEE MAP).

In the video, athlete, material and chrono must be visible at all time. Videos which don’t show the material previously, or this doesn’t match with the one shown, couldn’t be admitted, neither videos in which the athlete is not seen correctly.

WEIGHTS AND EQUIPMENT

60 kg for men rx and men team:

  • 20 kg Bar
  • 20 kg plate each side

STANDARDS DE MOVIMIENTOS

DEADLIFT

Valid reps will be those starting with the bar in the ground and ends with full hip and knee extension. The hands in the grip must be located out of the legs/knees. Shoulders must be behind the bar and in line with hips knees and ankles.

Athlete must show control of the bar before finishing the movement.

Any grip can be admited.

NO REPS

It will be considered no rep those with no full extension (hips and knees),or reps in which the bar is not aligned with the body(shoulders behind the bar).

BURPEE OVER BOX

Box height will be 60 cm for men and 50cm for women. Athlete must show and record previously the height of the box with a measuring tape.

The movement starts with a burpee in one side of the box, then jumping into the box landing with both feet (there´s no need of full extensión in the top of it) and finishes when landing in the other side of the box. Burpees can be performed facing the box, or in any other way.

NO REPS

Reps with no full extension on top of the box will be valid. Neither will be valid those in which the athlete touches the box with any part of the body, (apart from feet) and those in which the athlete jumps over the box. Step up will be no rep too.

The score will be the final time when all the exercises are completed or the number of repetitions performed during the time cap.

WEIGHTS AND EQUIPMENT

Male category will perform the WOD 2A with 20kg bar/s.

Female category will perform the WOD 2B with 15kg bar/s.

Weights are published in each wod description.

MOVEMENT STANDARDS

SNATCH

The bar wil start from the ground, with the bumoers in contact with it.
In scaled category the rounds when 20 and 10 snatches have to be peformed, these must start with the bar hanging below the knee of the athlete.
The bar must reach the over head position performing a snatch (olympic weightlifting).
The movement will end when the bar is in the overhead position with elbows, knees and hip fully extended.
Any technique of snatch will be allowed (muscle snatch, power snatch and squat snatch).

NO REPS

Starting the movement or linking several repetitions without touching the ground with the bar.
Take down or drop the bar without the elbows,knees and hips full extension.
If the bar touches the shoulders or the head when ascending to the overhead position.

PULL UPS

The movement will start with the athlete hanging with the elbows full extended.
The rep will be considered valid when the chin goes over the bar where the athlete is hanging. Reaching the height of the bar with the chin will not be enough. The chin must be in the highest point above the bar.
To link reps, the athlete must extend the elbows at the begining of each rep to perform the next.
Strict pull up, kipping pull up or butterfly pull ups are allowed.

NO REPS

Link reps without an elbow full extension between them.
Not reaching the chin above the bar where the athlete is hanging.
Chin up grip is not allowed.

CHEST TO BAR

The movement will start with the athlete hanging with the elbows full extended.
The rep will be considered valid when the athlete touches the bar with the chest and fully extends the elbows at the end to link with another rep.
Strict chest to bar,kipping chest to bar and butterfly chest to bar will be allowed.

NO REPS

Starting the movement hanging without a full extension of the elbows.
If the chest doesn´t make contact with the bar, even if the height of the athlete´s chest is in line with the bar. The athlete´s chest must touch the bar.
Chin up grip is not allowed.

RING MUSCLE UP

Te movement will start with the athlete hanging from the rings with the elbows fully extended.
The rep will be considered valid when the athletes goes up performing a muscle up and ends with full extension of the elbows in the top of the rings.
The athlete must fully extend the elbows before linking with the next rep.
Strict muscle up and kipping muscle ups will be allowed.

NO REPS

Starting without a full extension of the elbows.
If the athlete doesn´t extend the elbows at the end of the movement.
If the athlete goes down without a full extension of the elbows.
If the athlete goes down at the same time of the elbow extension.

AIR SQUAT

The movement wil start with the athlete satnding up in a knee , anlkle and hip full extension remaining in line wiht the ankles, knees, hips and shoulders.
The athlete will go down performing a squat. The crease of the hip must be below paralel.
The movement will end when the athlete reaches the first position. (See point 1).

NO REPS

The athlete doesn´t make a full hip and knee extension.
In the highest point, ankles, knees,hips and shoulders doesn´t remain in line.
The athlete´s crease of the hip is not below paralel.

KNEE RAISE

The movement will start with the athlete hanging from the bar with the elbows full extended.
The rep will be valid when the athlete´s knees raise above the height of the hip.
To link a rep with the oher, the athlete´s feet must break the vertical line of the bar in which he/she is hanging.

NO REPS

When raising the knees, these aren´t above the height of the hip.
When linking reps before breaking the vertical line of the bar, with tthe feet remaining in front.

FAQs

1. When and where do I have to do the registration?

On 09/09/2016 from 4p.m. in Camino de las hormigueras, 175. Local 14 (Madrid) CrossFit Vallecas. 700m from Sierra de Guadalupe underground station o Vallecas Renfe (train).

2. What is the limit time to submit my score for qualification WODS?

WOD1: (10.06.2016) until 17.06.2016 for the video link delivery.
WOD2: (17.06.2016) until 24.06.2016 for the video link delivery.

3. What can I expect from the WODs?

Rules and standard movements of Regionals/ European level (regional/European weights, swimming…)

4. What I can expect from the category scaled?

Standards and fundamental movements at the elementary level (swimming, basic movements kb, low weights, gymnastics and weightlifting basic movements underweight).

5. How teams are composed?

The teams will be composed of three athletes (2 boys and a girl)

6. Is it necessary to be present in the athlete’s briefing on Friday 9th?

It is not mandatory for the presence of the athlete, but if the presence of someone who can convey the same information and can make the athlete registration is required. (VIEW REGISTRATION MAP)

7. What is the expected Schedule?

You can check the timetables here, the event will be take on 10 and 11 September in "Cento Deportivo Municipal Palomeras", located in the street Tranvía de Arganda s/n, near the underground station, Sierra de Guadalupe and near the train station, Vallecas. You can also access by car on the M-40, km 16.

8. ¿How does the scoring in the SPTH2016 works?

Scoring is based on the position achieved on each WOD, being first position 1 point, second position 2 points, and so on... In the same way, the classification is the sum of the total points achieved on every WOD. In case of tie points, the athlete which has the best position on the previous WOD will have advantage.

9. How many athletes classify for Sunday WODs?

First day 21 male athletes and 15 female athletes classify for Sunday. On Sunday morning a catch up WOD will take place, in which 3 of the next 8 athletes and 2 of the 6 teams on the leadboard will have a second chance to be between the classified athletes for Sunday events.

10. What is the Catch Up WOD on Sunday morning?

It is an opportunity to classify for the finals, and will take place on Sunday morning, before the rest of the events. The next 8 athletes on the leadboard after the classified ones will be able to do it, and only the first 3 positions will have a second chance to be on the finals.

11. Where can I find accomodation for that days?

Ibis Budget, Is the event official hotel, is the chosen one by the organization due its quality-price value and it is at only 600m from the main installations.(SEE MAP)

12. How about the meals?

Mcdonalds, at just 500m from our facilities has special offers for all attendees of the Spanish throwdown, it will be a good day to pamper yourself (SEE MAP)

13. How the prizes will be awarded?

#SPTH shall divide 10.000€, (It is possible that the sponsor could provide extra prizes to the finalists), as follows.

15. ¿Can I sign up as an individual athlete and as an athlete of a team?

You may enroll in two categories , but if you were selected for the two in the present phase , will have to decide in which category will compete and exclude one of the two.

17. I have allready uploaded the video to YouTube...What I must do with the link?

Once the video is uploaded to You Tube , you must copy and paste in your profile wodcast , so that we can validate it the video link . When you join SPTH , wodcast it sends a message to the email you provided with a personal account wodcast where you have a user login and password .

18. Can I repeat the video to improve my score?

You can repeat as many times as you like to improve your score , sow within the dates marked for each wod .
